Invitation Letter

Dear Respected Muslim Non-profit Director(s)

Assalam aalaikum

Your non-profit is cordially invited to become founding member of the NCIC.

Northern California Islamic Council is a peer-to-peer network of advice and support for Muslim non-profits with an aim to provide a united Muslim voice to the community at large. The non-binding
consultation among non-profits could build trust-relationship and confidence in the light of Qur’anic verse, "…those who conduct their affairs by counsel" (43:38)

The goals and objectives of the council are to:

- Promote collaboration and cooperation among Muslim non-profits

- Help build consensus on issues of common interests and concerns

- Improve leadership communication and management skills

- Strengthen communities through education, empowerment and mobilization

For past several months, members of a community appointed ad hoc committee have been meeting with directors and imams of Northern California mosques and organizations to invite their non-profits to become founding members of the proposed council. So far 12 mosques and organizations have come on board, with several other promising to join during next few months

We are pleased to have respected scholars such as Imam Zaid Shakir, Dr. Hatem Bazian, Imam Faheem Shuaib and Imam Tahir Anwar as our advisors

What a mosque or non-profit can expect from the council:

- Access to network of Muslim non-profits for expert advice and support

- Publicity of their key events, services and activities

- Support in resource planning and implementation

What this council expects from your mosque or non-profit:

- Become founding member of the council or endorse it

- Make commitment to meet regularly with local mosques and organizations

- Participate in community resource planning and implementation

We are looking forward to learn that your non-profit has joined as founding member

We encourage masajid and Califirnia registered organizations to become council member by filling the
Membership Form (Downloadable pdf) and faxing it to: 408-213-9576.

Council to NOT interfere in internal affairs of Muslim non-profits, nor to offer conflicting or parallel programs and services

Sincerely

Steering Committee
